About Sherrhonda

Sherrhonda Denice is an author, speaker, workshop presenter, and consultant. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, and holds a master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University. Sherrhonda is a licensed clinical social worker who has worked in the area of child and family therapy for over 15 years. Sherrhonda has had a passion for writing since the early age of eight. She began writing songs at age eleven, and penned her first short script at age fifteen while participating in a neighborhood drama club.

After graduating from Michigan State University, Sherrhonda worked as a family social worker until completing graduate school, after which she accepted a position as a family therapist and later a school social worker. The intensity of providing individual and family therapy led Sherrhonda to write as a release, renewing her passion for the craft. Sherrhonda received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1996 and committed to writing material that would touch people's lives in a significant way, while helping them to grow in Christ. She began working in the youth ministry at her church, which eventually led to her becoming a youth ministry leader and a Bible study teacher for youth and adults. She frequently lends her expertise in clinical therapy at workshops, retreats, and through her consulting firm.

In 2007, as a challenge to herself, Sherrhonda founded Lily Bird Press, LLC and published Pathways, her first Christian fiction novel. She continues to bring diverse characters and story lines to the Christian fiction arena through Lily Bird Press. With regard to self-publishing, the author states emphatically, "Research shows that the self-publishing industry is growing at a rapid rate each year. And I’m in the club with those who are making life happen—not waiting on life to happen!" Sherrhonda loves reading, watching good movies, traveling, and of course, writing!!!
